A complete cast copper alloy heraldic harness pendant of Medieval dating (14th Century AD).
The pendant is of the 'heater' shield shape (a flat top, with sides that curve steeply to a point). The upper edge has an integrally cast suspension loop, which is sub oval in plan and set at right angles (ninety degrees) to the pendant. It is angled forwards, with an oval pierced loop.
The front of the pendant features moulded heraldic decoration in the form of a diagonal stripe bearing three five pointed stars crossing a halved background. In heraldic terms, it is described as "Divided per pale (argent/or) and gules, on a bend argent three mullets pierced of the first". Traces of red enamel are present in the lower right hand side of the background and traces of blue enamel are present at the top of the bend (diagonal stripe). The back of the pendant is plain and undecorated.
It measures 37.28 mm in length, 22.29 mm wide and 7.34 mm thick. It weighs 5.9 grams.
