A Medieval silver-gilt heart-shaped brooch of 15th century date. The brooch has a D-shaped cross section; the front surface is decorated with ridges to give the impression of a cabled frame. The back of the brooch is undecorated. To one side of the heart shape is a constriction for the pin, which remains intact. Gilding remains on boths surfaces, particually toward the outer edges. The brooch is 20.4mm long, 19.5mm wide, 4.1mm thick and weighs 3.41grams.

Notes:

The brooch qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of both age and precious metal content.
