Medieval copper alloy composite strap-end or buckle plate. The plate consists of a triangular openwork frame with one semicircular and two sub-triangular apertures separated by sub-rectangular sectioned bars, terminating in a stylised animal head. Two rivet holes at attachment edge, one retaining a copper alloy rivet, and one empty rivet hole before terminal. The outer edges of the frame are decorated with closley spaced transverse grooves. The back-plate is missing.12th century. Length: 48mm, width: 19mm.
