An incomplete cast copper alloy Hod Hill type brooch, of Roman dating (AD 43 - 70).

Approximately 25% of the brooch is present. The head, bow and part of the hinge are are present. The pin, wings, catchplate and foot are missing. The front of the bow is decorated with a raised triangular section, The back of the brooch is plain and undecorated. Traces of silvering are present on the bow. Part of the original hinge fitting for the pin is still present on the rear of the head.

The brooch measures 27.09 mm in length, 12.89 mm wide and 7.25 mm thick. It weighs 2.4 grams.

The brooch has a mid to dark brown colour, with an uneven surface patina present. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil has resulted in a loss of the majority of the original surface.

The style of the brooch is consistent with a Hod Hill variant, consistent with early Roman dating (AD 43 to 70).
