An incomplete cast copper alloy armlet or bracelet, reused as a finger ring, of Late Roman dating (3rd to 4th Century AD).
Approximately 25% of the bracelet or armlet is present and consists of a hooked terminal and part of the main section. The bracelet is flat, with a rectangular section. The bracelet fragment has been folded into a sub circular shape. The front has been decorated with a series of diagonal ridges. At the large end, a plain section is present. The back is plain and undecorated.
The bracelet is a mid to dark brown colour with an even surface patina.
The bracelet measures 28.91mm in length, 7.23mm wide, 20.19mm tall and 1.30mm thick. It weighs 2.7 grams.
Bracelets of the multiple motif style are considered to be Late Roman (3rd to 4th Centuries AD) and frequently occurred reused as finger rings. Several similar examples have been published including #1725 from the Butt Road Cemetery in Colchester (Crummy, 1983, p45) and LVPL-EB4FC2 from Lincolnshire.
