A cast copper-alloy thimble of probable late Medieval to Post-Medieval date. It has straight sides and a rounded/pointed top and a slightly thickened rim with single circumferential groove. On the underside of the rim there are two triangular notches resultant from manufacture. The striaght sides are covered with extensive and unevenly arranged (possibly hand-made?) circular pits that spiral from the base to the shoulder of the thimble and finally to the top. The thimble measures 20.26mm in height, approximately 22.54mm in diameter in current state (slightly flattened), weighs 8.28g. It probably dates to the 15th or 16th centuries AD (see Holmes, 1991: p. 1, fig. 2b).
