A fragment of a silver whistle.This fragment joins to the fragment previously recorded as Treasure case 2009 T399 (SOM-736C82). This is the lower part of the whistle and tapers to a rounded suspension loop with a circular aperture. Before the loop there are two rounded collars.The fragment has been cut at the break and is also split partway along.

Date: Post- Medieval - 16th to 17th century

Notes:

This fragment joins to the fragment previously recorded as Treasure case 2009 T399 (SOM-736C82). Dora Thornton (BM) suggested that the unusual flanges on the other half suggest a possibly 16th century date.

Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
