A Complete cast copper alloy seal matrix of the love and loyalty type. Medieval, fourteenth century (Harvey and McGuinness 1996 p 90). Hexagonally conical handle rising to a collar and a flattened, lozenge-shaped pierced terminal. The matrix depicts a male and female head in profile, facing each other, with a bird on a branch rising between and above them. The inscription reads 'LOVE ME AND ETTE', a romantic motto.
The matrix is 18.8mm high and weighs 6.60 grams. The die face is 19.2mm long and 16.1mm wide.
