Object type certainty: Certain

A copper alloy French Chatel Tournois stock jetton dating from the 15th century AD. The jetton is worn and there is no legend on either face; although worn it is possible to make out the design of each face. The obverse has four keys arranged in a circle with a fleurs in each angle, while the reverse has the Chatel Tournois logo in the centre surrounded by interlinked thorn branches. Although no direct parallel could be found in the usual literature, this type of jetton was popular between AD 1415 and 1500.
