A misshapen and almost complete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle (AD 1620-1680).
The frame, formed of two trapezoidal loops, is flat on both faces and has steep internal and external bevelling. The triangular outer edges have a transverse pin groove and rounded knops at their corners.
There is a lobed knop at each end of the narrowed pin bar which is rectangular in cross-section.
The copper-alloy pin is convex at the front and flat at the rear and the tapering shaft is missing its tip due to a recent break.
Both the frame and pin are greyish green over a reddish brown metal with flecks of a black substance, probably lacquer.
37.12 x 23.25 x 2.75mm. Weight: 8.27g.
A similar buckle can be found illustrated in Whitehead 1996: 83, ref: 522.
