A copper alloy seal matrix dating to the medieval period. The matrix is vesica-shaped (pointed oval) and has an integral, roughly square, loop on the reverse, for suspension or attachment. The seal bears a latin inscription reading 'FRAN[C] LEGE TEG(E)', translating as 'break, read, keep secret'. The legend runs around the outer edge of the matrix, while within is a fleur-de-lys design. Overall the seal is in good condition; this type of seal dates to the 14th century AD.
