Cast copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (6. Eastern Group, flat wing ends type), Mackreth 2011, 6.a7. Plate 52. Length 47mm, width 32mm, thickness 12mm, weight 15.29g. Rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings would have held the spring support bar. Rearward facing loop would have held the external cord of the spring. There is an engraved X on the face of either wing, The bow is plain, the catch plate on the reverse is closed. Date 80-120AD
