Fourteen iron nails or parts of nails, all very heavily corroded and collectively weighing 172.29g.
The three longest are c.58mm in length with oval or circular heads, c.17mm wide max. Of the remainder at least four others are broken along the shank, and those that retain heads are similarly oval or circular and of similar size. One is short and squat with a square/ lozingiform head (19.63mm long, head 19.5x20.5mm).
Although undatable, the iron nails were found in a pit containing Roman pottery (WILT-E232C8, WILT-E19E94), coins (WILT-200EF8, WILT-203724 and fragment WILT-2057C7 which is possibly a Roman coin),
a fragment of Roman spoon (WILT-250BB8) and copper alloy (WILT-254207) and lead (WILT-616821) metal working debris. A possible Roman date is suggested.
