A mostly complete, Medieval, struck or hammered, gold alloy, Henry IV (1399-1413), House of Lancaster, quarter noble. Light coinage, standard type 'C'. The shield has three fleur-de-lys in the Coat of Arms, replacing four as previously displayed. Obverse: Trefoils and annulets beside and fleur-de-lys above shield with three lis in Coat of Arms of England and France within a tressure of eight arches. Inscription: HENRIC DI GRA REX (AN). Reverse: Floriated cross with a lis at the end of each limb and in the centre; in each angle a lion passant, guardant; all within a tressure of eight arches. Inscription: EXALTABITVR IN GLORIA. Mint mark: Cross pattee. Mint name: London. Die axis: 9 o'clock. The coin has light wear but is heavily clipped and has a chip in the edge. This coin dates to 1412-1413. Ref. Coins of England and the UK, Spink 2011, page 185 no. 1717 and English Hammered Coinage Vol 2, J.J. North, Spink 199 reprint 2006, page 66 no. 1357. The coin is 17.71mm long, 16.33mm wide, 0.5mm thick, diameter 17.71mm and weighs 1.2g or 19 grains.
