An incomplete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle (c. AD 1550-1650).
The frame is convex at the front, flat at the rear and is roughly 'D'-shaped in plan
At the front on the outer edge there is a moulded heart motif. The narrowed central bar is 'D'-shaped in cross-section, flat at the rear. At each end of the bar there is a small projecting knop. The tapering pin is 'D'-shaped in cross-section.
This buckle, including the pin, has no patina and is mainly covered with corrosion products.
23.35 x 23.81 x 5.58mm. Weight: 2.85g.
Similar buckles have been published and dated c. 1550-1650 (Whitehead 1995: 62-65).
