A Medieval to Post-Medieval drop or Loop-handle from chafing dish c. 1400-1600 Ad. The handle is subtriangular in plan with flat top held by a loop. The shank is broken. The handle has a shouldered attachment-loop, rectangular-sectioned with collared integral rivet. For similar examples see Egan (1998) 175, fig.143, no.487, and Margeson (1993) Norwich Households 78-80, fig.45, nos.489-91. Similar examples can be seen on the database recorded as both chafing dishes NMS-91CC97 and as casket handles,KENT-5E5F87.
