A fragment of a glass vessel of late post-medieval to modern date. The glass is clear with a pearlescent quality to both surfaces. It is not possible to identify the form of the vessel.
Finds Advisor Kevin Leahy comments that "this looks too clear to be Roman glass, they had awful trouble making clear glass and most of what they made has a green tinge (something that goes on through the history of glass making). It is only with modern material and the use of elements that scour the iron oxides do we get clear glass" and therefore suggests a modern date for this fragment.
The fragment is 30.3mm long, 29.1mm wide, 4.5mm thick and weighs 5.1g.The fragment is 30.3mm long, 29.1mm wide, 4.5mm thick and weighs 5.1g.
