Near complete cast copper alloy Post Medieval clothing fastener or dress hook, dating from 1600-1700 AD.
The object is roughly oval in shape with three loops; one on either side and one at the end and a broken off clasp at the opposite end. The surface has traces of gilding remaining.
This clothing fastener would have formed one part of a pair, the other side having a hasp around which the clasp on this fastener would have fitted, thus fastening the clothing to which it was attached like a hook and eye fitting.
