1: A complete but worn copper alloy composite strap end with a sheet spacer occuping the whole width. This strap end is rectangular in shape and measures 41mm in length and 10mm in width. The sheet spacer is still in place and is secured with rivets, one at either end of the strap end. The terminal of the strap end tapers to a point. On the front face of the strap end traces of incised decoration can be seen, this decoration consists of transverse grooves and diagonal rows of zig-zags but is unfortunately no longer clear. The back face is undecorated.
2: A complete but worn copper-alloy composite strap end with a sheet spacer occuping the whole width. This strap end is roughly rectangular in shape measuring 24mm in length and 11.5mm in width. The terminal tapers to a point and the attachment end is rounded. One rivet and one rivet hole can be seen, they are placed centrally near to either end of the strap end. Traces of what may be the remains of a leather strap can be seen within the attachment end. Both of these composite strap ends are very similar to examples found in London and dated to the 14th century (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 146-148, no 692).
