Silver
Terminal, possibly part of a seal matrix worn on a fob, though alternative identifications remain open. A sub-rectangular setting with curved sides is attached to a flat square plate with its corners trimmed - perhaps to avoid snagging clothing. A round hole in the base of the socket may relate to the fastening of an inset. Suggested date: Modern, 1850-1900.
