An incomplete cast copper-alloy bracelet of late Roman date. It is flat, rectangular in form and section, tapering at one end to a possibly rounded terminal and to the other end in old breaks. The surviving section of the band is curved in profile and has a worn green patina. The front face has moulded decoration comprising possible simple notches to the sides of the band at the terminal end, which terminate in a double transverse groove. A second pair of double transverse grooves create a rectangular panel at the centre of which is a single ring and dot motif. The remaining fragment of the band at the old break has parallel diagonal moulding with a single ring and dot motif to one side. The entire object measures 31.15mm in length (curved), 4.89mm in width, 2.53mm in thickness and 2.31g in weight.

This is a fragment from a Roman bracelet similar to Crummy's multiple motif types noted in Roman Colchester (Crummy, 1983: nos. 1724-1732). These suggest a date in the 3rd-4th centuries AD for the current example.

Class: strip (multiple motif)
