Object type certainty: Certain

Medieval or Post Medieval cast copper-alloy double-loop buckle frame. The frame has two oval loops with flat backs and inner sides and rounded outer sides. The strap bar is narrowed. At the centre of each outer edge are three incised lines, the inner straight and the outer lines angled outwards. It is 31.9mm long, 26.8mm wide and 2.3mm thick, it weighs 4.00 grams in total.

A similar example is illustrated in Margeson (1993:30, no.164) from a 17th century context , although with only one incised line rather than three, it is likely similar simple forms were in use by c.1350 (Egan and Pritchard 1993:22, 82-3, cf no.332).
