A Medieval cast copper alloy casket key which comprises a hollow-ended sub-circular shank a round bow with a terminal knop and rectangular bit. The bit has a small notch on the inside and 2 notches on the outside edge. The bit measures 12.79 mm long and 9.45 mm wide and is 1.3 mm thick. The overall length is 38.25mm long. The bow is 12.82 mm in diameter. This key probably dates to the 14th-15th century. The overall condition is good with some powdery corrosion.
