A Medieval harness pendant suspension mount, made from copper alloy and decorated with enamel and gilding, dating 12th - early 14th century. This mount is square with the double loop for suspension projecting from the upper edge. There are traces of iron corrosion around the holes indicating the presence of the original iron pin for attachment. It is decoratively cast with four circular motifs arranged on the cardinal points around a central pellet and a foliate terminal projects between each of the circular motifs forming the points of the square-shape. The north/south circular motifs comprises a circular border forming a cell containing blue enamel and set within this is a floral copper alloy cell with a central copper alloy pellet. The east/west circular motifs comprise, again, a circular border forming a cell containing red enamel and set within this is a floral copper alloy cell with a rounded copper alloy mount attached through the centre. The stub of the pin which attaches these two mounts can be seen on the reverse. The walls of these four circular motifs form a central cell containing white enamel. Gilding still covers the majority of the non-enamelled surface, although in some areas it appears to be covered with a white coating.

Dimensions: length: 27.16mm; width: 19.79mm; thickness (including the pins to the circular mounts): 4.99mm; weight: 7.10g.
