Copper alloy

Furniture Fitting. Pressed metal concavo-convex plate in a quasi-exotic trompe d'oiel style. A lunate curve decorated by chevrons and an inner billeted order is represented, through which passes [or appears to pass] a finely patterned drape; the latter being wrapped [or rather appears to be wrapped] around a separate oval loop of drawn wire, the latter actually attached by white fixative. A fragment of a rim remains on one edge of the object. The more prominent details appear reversed on the back. Suggested date: Modern, 1850-1930.

Length: 48.8mm, Width: 35.1mm, Thickness: 0.7mm, Weight: 4.81gms.
