Unique ID: NLM-0CA383

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Lead Alloy, probably painted.

Possible Mount. Cast figurine representing a standing bird of prey on a sub-rectangular base with curved ends, of thickness 3.3mm; the head has a flat top with a beak short curved beak, feathers are suggested by moulded low relief on the folded wings, and the feet or claws are represented by a subdivided crescentic curve. The back of the figurine is flat, and at right angles to the base, and both these flat surfaces reveal grey coloured metal; the surface is otherwise a patinated brown showing from under a coat of black paint. The unpatinated condition of the white metal tends to indicate a recent date. The sharply angled reverse indicates provision for attachment, though to what and why is uncertain. Suggested date: Modern, 1800-1950.

Height: 25.8mm, Width: 11.6mm, Thickness: 8.8mm, Weight: 12.90gms.
