A complete but bent sheet copper alloy hook-piece from a post-medieval book-clasp. It is flat in section and sub-rectangular in plan with a slightly flared end with scalloped edge. The opposing end terminates in a narrowed, curved hook (W: 6mm). The upper surface is decorated with two ring and dot motifs at the flared and, and the other half is decorated with longitudinal grooves. Two copper alloy rivets survive, one at each end. This type of book clasp is dated to the later 16th century to mid-18th century, c.1550-1750. Compare DENO-FBA075 and WILT-E96352.
