A copper alloy box or casket mount dating from the Medieval period. It is an elongated rectangle in plan, but has been bent at 45 degrees and twisted post deposition. At the complete end is a zoomorphic terminal in the form of an animal head. It has a wide snub snout, concave cheeks, and bulging rounded ears. The eyes are incised ovals, and a lozenge design with a central line is incised on the ears and back of the head. Benhind the head, the neck narrows and flattens into a D shaped section. There is a circule attachment hole and then the rest of the mount is moulded into segments, rather like an earthworm. At the broken end is another incomplete circular attachment hole. The mount has a turquoise and brown patina. Compare DUR-AF3BC5, WILT-CEFE53 and SF-828566.
