Part of a cast, copper alloy artifact, possibly a mount, probably of post-medieval date. It consists of a flat, narrow shaft of rectangular section, flat on the underside and slightly beveled on the upper surface, one end of which terminates in a pair of sloping, triangular side projections. This gives the appearance of an arrow head, though it is impossible to be certain as both ends of the artifact have broken off in antiquity and are missing. The end opposite the "arrow" is bent upwards, but this is probably damage rather than intentional. The artifact is silvered and a large percentage of the white metal coating remains. Where the coating is damaged and the underlying metal shows through, it has a dark brown patina, with green corrosion at the broken ends. The artifact is 46mm long, 9mm wide and 3.2mm thick. It weighs 4.54gm.
Although no mounting points are visible, it is possible that this was some part of a decorative furniture mount or similar object perhaps from a box or casket. It is also similar to a clock hand.
