A fragment of a late Medieval to early Post-Medieval cast copper-alloy purse frame, circa AD1450 - AD1550. The fragment represents a short, slightly curved length of frame which is "V" shaped in cross-section. It is decorated on one side with a pattern of crosses, which are formed by double-stranded lines inlaid with niello. About 70% of the inlay remains intact. Both ends of the length show breaks that were made in antiquity, one end shows half of a hole which would have aided fixing to the fabric of the purse by sewing. The fragment measures 33.3mm in length, it has a thickness of 5.8mm, and weighs 7.9g. The existing metalwork is in good condition, and has a bright green patina.
