A copper-alloy buckle and plate, Egan type 4, of later 14th century date.
The buckle has a D-shaped frame with a broad band with slightly pointed outer edge and flanked by moulded collars centred on the outer frame. The pin is formed from a tapered strip of copper alloy, with the broader end hooked around the crossbar of the buckle. A sheet of cut copper alloy forms the plate. A circular perforation at the far end indicates where the plate was riveted to the belt strap, and the plate has two retangular projections at the opposite end that are hooked around the crossbar of the buckle frame, to either side of the pin.
