A cast copper-alloy box catch of Post-medieval date. Both parts are shield shaped and flat in section. One side is slightly longer than the other, both have two circular holes in the edge and the longer has a third hole centred above these and a knop on the end. The shorter side has three circular holes for separately cast rivets which are present. These would have attached the catch, probably to a box. The longer side has a single circular hole for a separately cast rivet which is present towards the joint. This holds in place a piece of pointed circular wire which has been bent into a hook. This falls behind the middle hole and would most likely have been fed through a loop to fix something in place, probably a box lid. It measures 33.26mm in length, 16.51mm in width, 5.19mm in thickness and weighs 7.47g.
