Lead spindle whorl. Irregular whorl, either miscast or partly melted, now of bun shape, and with central aperture of diameter 8.1mm. This is (or was) possibly of an Early Medieval form. As with many lead whorls, it would probably be used for plying cord rather than spinning a yarn. Suggested date: Possibly Early Medieval, 750-1000.
