BURNHAM HOARD 2010 T509: item 8.A Socketed Axe: South Eastern - plain (Petters type A.1)
Incomplete cast copper alloy socketed axe; the mouth end is missing. The sides are slightly concave, the blade tips are not pronounced. It has a rectangular cross section. There are corrosion products adhering to one face and side. The casting seems on the side are smoothed. There is possible organic material in the socket.
Length: 86.91mm. Body at break: 32.22mm by 29.01mm. Socket opening at break: 23.27mm by 18.91mm.
