An incomplete cast lead doll of Post-Medieval date, c 1650-1670.
The doll is the upper half of the woman only, cast with detailed in moulded relief. The doll has a domed face with eyes and nose in relief, framed by flaring collar to each side and a row of curled hair above. A pearl necklace separates the face and the body, which has a strip of square panels running down each side and the centre of the chest, between a pair of domed breasts. The arms emerge from the shoulder and bend down at the elbow in narrow sleeves, such that each arm is shaped like the number 7. The arms join the body at the waist, but a fold or bend has snapped the lower body off of the doll.
The reverse is also decorated, bearing the same deocration as the face, but lacking a pearl necklace.
The doll can be dated based on the fasion of the large, fan-shaped collar and hair curled/contained atop the head.
