A cast copper alloy fitting, possibly a handle attachment for a copper alloy vessel. The object consists of a square-section 'skirted' fitting with a separate length of rod which appears incomplete and which is inserted into a cylindrical extension below the 'skirt'. The fitting itself has a circular pit on one side. Engraved radiating lines decorate the 'skirt' and there are crossing lines on either side of the square.
The function of this object is unclear but it may have held a handle from a vessel.
