An incomplete copper-alloy pin. The pinhead is spherical measuring 7.5mm in diameter, it has a central circumference groove. The pinhead tapers into a rectangular shaped moulding measuring 8mm in length and 4mm in width. This rectangular moulding has a central circumference groove and therefore each face has two 'panels' which are further decorated with single diagonal grooves through their centres. Below the rectangular shaped moulding the shaft of the pin in worn and rectangular in cross-section, the tip of the shaft is missing due to an old break. This pin is similar to others found at Colchester, although these examples have waisted or rounded mouldings beneath the head rather than rectangular shaped ones, they are Roman in date (Crummy 1983, 28-29, fig 27).
