BURNHAM HOARD 2010 T509: Item A.13 Socketed Axe; South Eastern - undiagnostic fragment
Incomplete cast copper alloy socketed axehead. It has been broken across the body; the lower body and blade end survive. The sides are angular, flaring out suddenly to the blade end. There are prominent casting seams on both sides. There is a flat fragment of an undiagnostic copper alloy artefact in the socket, and a corroded fragment of another copper allow artefact adhering to the external surface of the axe.
