An incomplete cast copper alloy vessel mount of probable late Iron Age date. The mount is a pointed ovoid in plan with a concave reverse and is decorated with the features of a human face. The hair is marked by incised lines forming a straight fringe and long sides which continue to form a beard. The eyes appear to be closed, the nose is quite pointed and the lips are downturned giving the appearance of a frown. The top of the head has a worn, sub-rectangular protrusion. The hollow reverse allows room for the lock mechanism which no longer remains. A small perforation is present through the base of the chin within which is a worn iron rod.
The metal has a mid brownish-green colour and is worn. The mount is 40.2mm long, 21.5mm wide, 10mm thick and weighs 15.7g.
