A complete Early Neolithic flint end-scraper manufactured on a short secondary 'blade' (3500 BC-2900 BC).
The implement is an elongated and sub-oval in plan, sub-triangular in cross-section. The dorsal surface has two negative blade removals and about 40% of the surface is buff cortex. It has been trimmed irregularly around the edges on this face. There are multiple striking scars at the proximal end.
The ventral surface has a bulb of percussion at the proximal end with associated ripples and a hinge fracture at the distal end.
This flint is grey tinged with red. It is glossy, particularly on the ventral surface. However, this may have been created whilst in contact with mobile sand and shingle.
59.73 x 34.92 x 13.65mm. Weight: 29.85g.
Found on the surface of a shingle bank within the inter-tidal zone.
