An Early Post-Medieval (1500-1700) copper alloy gilt mount or stud, with much of the gilding missing. The single shank to the reverse is bent to one side. Measures 8.75mm in length (originally c. 21mm) and weighs 3.03g.
The head is square or lozengiform in shape (17.65x17.37mm), flat to the reverse (with a slight hollowing at the centre where the shank projects) and with moulded decoration to the front. The decoration is in the form of a raised central pellet, a pellet at each corner and three (smaller) pellets flanking the edges between. The remainder of the area is filled with four worn representations, possibly of a fleur-de-lis.
The shank is square in cross-section (2.64x2.53mm), narrowing to a point 0.7mm in diameter.
