A ceramic vessel fragment; a wall sherd of Medieval pottery. The sherd has an iron based green glaze fading to purple brown on the outer face. The fabric is hard and irregular in texture. It is a yellow grey colour. The inclusions are of grit (including quartz), coal, and smooth, rounded (possibly melted) black lumps, particularly on the inner surface (possibly black iron ore). The sherd is decorated with a relief band into which rough crescent shaped depressions have been made. The band looks to be on the shoulder of the vessel. The sherd is 47.03mm long, 47.38mm wide and 14.71mm thick. 24.5g.
