A Roman Period, copper alloy disc brooch; 21.16mm in length, 16.85mm wide and 6.25mm thick. The brooch weighs 4.5g. The brooch is similar to no.124 in fig. 204 of Hatatt's Visual Catalogue.
The brooch is sub circular in shape and rectangular in section, and consists of a raised circular outer border which contains a raised motif of a five pointed 'flower'.
The reverse of the brooch is flat except for the copper alloy spring and catchplate which runs along the diameter of the piece. The spring section shows the presence of iron on the object, while the top portion of the spring appears to have broken off.
