An incomplete Post Medieval cast copper alloy double loop oval buckle with moulded surface decoration dating to c. 1550-1650 AD. The buckle consists of a vesica-shaped frame, with moulded rosette decoration on the outer edge of each loop and at either end of the strap bar. There is further oblique rib decoration on each loop. The pin is missing but there is an iron staining on the central buckle frame bar, suggesting that the pin was composed of iron. The frame measures 40.50 mm long, 25 mm wide, 2.06 mm thick and weighs 6.75 grams. Whitehead (2003) illustrates a similar buckle (page 67, Ref 417) which he dates to c.1550-1650 AD.
