A post Medieval cast copper-alloy asymmetrical buckle frame c. 1575-c. 1700 AD).
The pin is missing.
The frame has one rectangular and one 'D'- shaped loop.
The outer edge of the rectangular loop is lobed and cusped and has a transverse groove on its upper surface which extends the full width.
The outer side of the outer edge of the D-shaped loop is stepped around its edge and has a chevron-shaped groove at the centre of the upper surface. The narrowed strap bar is recessed and is roughly square in cross-section.
24.61 x 17.72 x 2.23mm. Weight: 2.17g.
This frame has a small patch of green patina at the rear and is a drab brown colour. It has two small flecks of tinning on the upper surface of the outer edge of the rectangular loop.
A similar buckle frame has been published and dated c. 1575-1700 AD (Whitehead 1996: 91, ref: 572).
