A copper alloy Medieval armorial stud. It is shield-shaped with a large integral shank centrally placed on the reverse. The front face bears a lion rampant, but apart from the tail, not much can be seen because of the corrosion of the metalwork. The stud plate is small, 17.8mm in length, 13.88mm in width and weighing 5.36g. The shank extends at right angles for a length of 8.5mm and is rectangular in section. Ashley 2002 illustrates two similar examples, fig.15 nos 128 and 132.
