FINGER RING

Unique ID: ESS-AD9A65

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Published Find published

2012 T238, Post Medieval gold ring.

Date: 17th - 18th Century

Description: Gold posy ring, thin flat band with inscription on internal band: god gives increase to love and peace. Traces of a possible maker's mark.

Dimensions: Weight: 1.9g, Diameter (at widest): 18.85mm, Width: 3.30mm, Thickness: 0.57mm

Discussion: In the absence of a datable maker's mark we cannot date this pre-1712. The ring cannot be securely dated to pre-1712 and it as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
