An incomplete cast copper alloy fitting, possibly from a window latch, of probable Post Medieval to Modern dating (17th to 19th Centuries AD).
The probable fitting is sub rectangular in plan, and exhibits an anterior (forward) bend towards one end. Faint traces of decoration survive on the front of the fitting and consist of an impressed annulet. Two sub oval holes or perforations are present approximately in the middle of the fitting. The top edge of the fitting is scalloped. The rear of the fitting exhibits a partial hinge fitting.
The fitting is a light to mid green colour, with an uneven surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in a loss of some of the original surface detail.
The fitting measures 42.14mm in length, 8.8 mm wide and 4.73mm thick. It weighs 4.7 grams.
