MOUNT

Unique ID: BH-DF1427

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A pair of stamped copper-alloy sheet-metal mounts, probably dating from the Late Medieval or post-Medieval periods.

The mounts are of very similar appearance, each taking the form of a four-petalled flower head. At the centre is a raised pellet surrounded by four sub-circular petals; a rim of two ridges and an internal groove forms a perimeter border around the mount, with the point of a petal protruding from each of the four external angles. On the reverse, both mounts have traces of iron corrosion from an otherwise missing central rivet. One mount has a light green patina, while the other has a matt brown surface.

Green mount: 18.9mm high, 18.5mm wide, 1.4mm thick. Weight: 0.95g.

Brown mount: 19.2mm x 19.2mm, 1.1mm thick. Weight: 0.73g.
