A copper alloy Roman brooch, a headstud type, dating from 75 - 200 AD. It is badly dent and corroded. It has a tube behind the wings holding the copper alloy axis bar and with a slot for the hinged pin. Only the top part of the pin survives. The integral head loop has broken off. The rectangular wings are decorated with vertical grooves. The integral headstud is a circular ring cell containing decayed enamel. The rest of the bow is decorated with faint triangular cells, now empty. The bow is sub rectangular in section. The foot is a sub-circular disc. Most of the catchplate is missing. The metal is a dusty pale green colour.
